Here's my designs for #CatwalkChallenge's fifth Project Runway round, the Marie Claire At Work "team" challenge. I'm quite surprised that for the first time, I'm not struggling to finish in the wee hours of the night!
Well. So. For my "team," the color palette was black, white, teal, fuchsia, and purple. I, uh... did my best. 8'D My only fear is that these designs are too plain. (Maybe I'm just a detail-whore. eue) More about my designs... I love jackets. If it weren't for summer, I'd wear jackets all the time because they're so cool~ So here, I put a bolero on one and a blazer on the other. I felt like the blazer gives a more professional feel too. I also wanted to connect the two designs somehow, so the four buttons and the "boob window" (I might be looking at too many superheroine costume designs XD) are the motifs here. Of course, the colors also create a sort of cohesion where I flip-flopped the use of dark fuchsia/purple (whatever tickles your fancy) and the teal in both. Not sure if that was a brilliant or utterly stupid move on my part but what's done is done and I kind of like it. >3> As for the skirt shapes, I figured pencil and A-line were perfect for the work place. Right? Plus, I love pencil skirts and high-waisted skirts. I also thought that using a draping technique on both designs would look nice. And... don't make fun of me for the name of this mini-collection. I'm running out of names. D8
Don't forget to vote when the polls go up~ Wish me luck. >u<

Nice work as always I think the simplicity is actually really great, especially for the goal of this collection. Work clothes are often best when they look clean and sharp. So my favorites are the purple jacket and the high-waisted skirt. I may or may not have have some sort of obsession with double-breasted/double-buttoned stuff...
However, it might have actually been really cool if instead of black for the dress you had done white. The black dress still looks awesome and it's very classic of course, but white would make it look more modern and fashion-forward. And even better if either look had a short delicate necklace with it
